Boating and Lake Life

LIVE THE LAKE LIFE

Foxland Harbor is situated on the shoreline of Old Hickory Lake. Boating and water sports enthusiasts will enjoy all Old Hickory Lake has to offer from fishing or skiing to cruising anywhere in the world. Old Hickory Lake is over 90 miles long and part of the Cumberland River with dams and locks at both ends. Studies have shown Old Hickory Lake to be one of the cleanest lakes in Tennessee. Managed under the Corps of Engineers Old Hickory Lake is a navigation lake not a flood control lake so the water level does not fluctuate more than a couple feet throughout the year.

Boat Docks, Ramps and Marinas

Foxland Harbor was approved for boat docks in 2014 so all qualified lake lots are eligible for a dock permit. Most of the lots share a slip in a 4 to 6 slip dock with the adjoining lots. Some of the lots on the lake that do not have enough shoreline to qualify for a dock will not be eligible for a dock permit so this is something to verify with the Corps of Engineers before purchasing a lake lot in Foxland Harbor.

There is a Corps of Engineers boat ramp just outside the entrance of Foxland Harbor which is very convenient for those without a dock.

Gallatin Marina is about a 10 minute drive by car and 5 minutes by boat. Gallatin Marina is a full service marina with gas, pump out and restaurant. There are several other marinas within a 20 minute drive as well.

Water Sports

On a nice day you will find wakeboarders, wakesurfers, water skiers, jet skiers, kayakers and the like most anywhere on the lake. The area of the lake where Foxland Harbor is located is one of the most desired locations for water sports. The ski cove that is just around the corner is where the Old Hickory Lake Ski Club maintains a slalom course and is out skiing the course most every day.

Fishing

Old Hickory Lake is a desired stop for many professional and amateur fishing tournaments throughout the year. The main catch is largemouth bass, strippers, crappie, catfish and walleye. Fishing is year round and there are many fish attractors the Corps maintains throughout the lake. You can also fish right from your backyard or from the shore in Foxland Harbor.

Houseboating and Cruising

Old Hickory Lake is a great lake for overnight stays on your houseboat or just cruising the lake. The dam towards Nashville is approximately 20 miles by boat. You can lock through the dam and it is another 25 miles to downtown Nashville where there is dockage available with hookups. Enjoy a couple hour cruise from Foxland Harbor to downtown Nashville for a night on the town, out to dinner or a Titans game!

Nature and Wildlife

For those who enjoy watching or photographing wildlife Old Hickory Lake is the place for you. There are many species of birds, ducks and other wildlife around the lake. There are also numerous parks on the lake within close proximity of Foxland Harbor.
